How to apply for e-passport Online || Opurbo Tech
Bangladesh has entered the era of electronic passport (e-passport). In the morning (January 22, 2020), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated the program by receiving the e-passport at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Residents of Dhaka can also apply for this e-passport from tomorrow (Thursday). In June, e-passports will be issued from passport offices across the country. And by the end of the year e-passport will reach 80 missions outside the country.
Bangladesh Immigration and Passport Department Director General Major General Sakil Ahmed told the journalist that e-passport can be applied online from 23rd 2022 (Thursday). After that, the applicants will go to the offices of Agargaon, Jatrabari, Uttara, Secretariat and Dhaka Cantonment of the Directorate and give the biometric and necessary information.
How to apply for e-passport
To apply for e-passport, first log in to this website (www.epassport.gov.bd). Enter the website and click on Directly to online application.
In the first step, select the name of the district city and police station of the current address and click. The next step is to fill and submit the original e-passport form with personal details. The third step is to submit the fee according to the validity period and the number of pages of the passport. In this case, payment can be made online using any bank's debit and credit card.
Also, if money is deposited in any of the five banks approved by the department, the deposit slip number should be given here. Then submit the file. As a result your information will be transferred to the passport office server. The next step is to go to the passport office to provide the biometric information along with the necessary documents including the National Identity Card (NID).
The applicant will be informed after the final step of e-passport preparation The applicant will appear at the specified time and receive the e-passport.
The Director General said that the e-passport will reach offices across the country in June and 80 missions outside the country by the end of this year.
Paper form submission
E-Passport can be obtained even if you fill and submit the e-passport paper form from the passport office. 87 types of information of the applicant will be asked in paper form. This form is slightly different from MRP. In this form, the passport validity (5 years or 10 years) and the number of passport pages (48 or 64) etc. will be asked.

In addition, if the passport is urgently needed within two days, the applicant must bring the police clearance in advance on his own initiative. In this case, the pre-police clearance number should be mentioned in the passport form. Clearance copy to be submitted at the time of application.
An adult e-passport needs to fill up the form and submit the national identity card/smart card and photograph.
Also for those under 18, copy of birth certificate, photo of parents and national identity card must be submitted.
For applicants in Bangladesh, 48-page five-year general fee is Tk 3500, urgent fee is Tk 5500 and urgent fee is Tk 7500 and 10-year period is Tk 5000, urgent fee is Tk 7000 and urgent fee is Tk 9000.
In addition, for applicants in Bangladesh, the 64-page five-year general fee is Tk 5500, emergency fee Tk 7500 and extreme emergency fee Tk 10500 and 10-year period general fee Tk 7000, emergency fee Tk 9000 and extreme emergency fee Tk 12000. All fees will be subject to 15 percent VAT.
