What is 'High-Performance Mode' in Android Phone? Know its Benefits
Nowadays, with the unprecedented advancement of technology, the smartphones in our hands are also becoming quite powerful. Even today's mid-range budget phones are more powerful than the top-of-the-range phones of a few years ago. This does not mean that our phones will stop here.
Every year there are new innovations and technologies to get more performance out of phones. You can even have a separate "High-Performance Mode" to squeeze all the performance out of your phone. But many of us do not know about this. In today's post, we will tell you how you can check if your phone has 'High-Performance Mode' and turn it on.
What is High-Performance Mode?
It may be provided as a separate feature on different Android phones. Generally using this mode you can get the most performance out of your phone's CPU and GPU. Many of us think our phone is always running at its full potential. Actually it is not like that. The phone uses very little power when not needed to save battery life. Your smartphone tries to use its full power only when doing heavy work.
Once upon a time, custom ROMs were very popular for Android phones to take out the full performance of the phone. This was done by overclocking the phone's CPU separately in a custom ROM. By overclocking the CPU you can force your phone's CPU to run at full power beyond its normal state. This can also cause problems with your CPU. Usually the CPU is not allowed to run at full power to keep your phone safe. Some phone companies currently allow this to be done safely using 'high-performance mode'.
Generally phone processors have two types of cores, high performance cores and low performance cores. Smartphones do light tasks through low performance cores and use high performance cores for heavy tasks or gaming. Instead of overclocking using 'High-Performance Mode', your smartphone does all the work through the High Performance Core. This increases performance but consumes more battery. The difference in performance may not be noticeable to you. But if needed, you can utilize your phone's processor to its full potential using this feature.
Basically, you may not notice the difference in performance using this feature on phones with very powerful processors like the Galaxy S22 Ultra. But if you use a budget phone or a less powerful phone like OnePlus Nord, you can notice a good difference in this feature.
How to know if your phone has 'High-Performance Mode'?
This feature is not a native Android operating system feature. It is usually provided by different phone brands separately on their phones. This feature is mostly seen in Samsung phones. Besides, this feature can be seen in some phones of OnePlus.
Samsung has named this feature as 'Enhanced Processing' and there is not much to say about the actual function of this feature in their phones. If you go to settings you will see they say 'Use for fast data processing without games. It will consume more battery.' means you need to use Samsung's Game Booster tool to get better performance in games.
If you have a Samsung phone, turning on this feature is pretty easy. You can enable it by following the instructions below:
- Open the notification panel by swiping down from the top.
- Tap the gear icon from the top right corner and open Settings.
- Now tap on the 'Battery & Device Care' section.
- Select the 'Battery' option.
- Now scroll down and find and tap on 'More Battery Settings'.
- Turn on the toggle next to 'Enhanced Processing' by tapping once.

By doing this your phone will start working faster. Depending on the phone you may not see much of a difference, but it may drain your phone's battery faster. So if you don't have any benefit in it then it is better to turn off this feature. However, the feature can be quite useful on less powerful Samsung phones. But keep battery life in mind.

In the case of OnePlus phones, you can easily find this feature by going to the settings and typing 'High Performance Mode'. You can also access the performance mode by going to the battery section of the Xiaomi phone settings. In that case, you can launch the feature from there. Remember, this will drain the battery quickly.
